To Read or Not to Read

Ya...Whose got time for that? I admit...I don't read the instruction books very often. I find them boring and full of ¨blah, blah, blah¨. Usually, I just pull what I need from them and zip my life right along. So, I opened up all my stuff today.

There is the P90X3 Fitness Guide. Yep. Staring right at me. I was so blessed to get a copy from my good friend with the DVDs. But, you wanna know a big secret? The only thing I looked at and followed in there was the first 4 week workout schedule. Other than that...I didn't crack that guide open for nothing! Nothing.

So, I want to do this all proper and stuff. I grab that guide today and start reading it. GASP! I need to do a pre-Fitness Test. Oh joy! I, in theory, could skip it, but it might be fun.

Here are some difficulties. I do not own a pull-up bar. I modified at home with dumbbells and resistance bands but no bar here. Hmmm...I might have to go to a park and pony up. Lovely. Excuse me boys and girls...this chick is out to prove whether P90X3 works...MOVE OVER!! What? Your mom is over there? Would she like to join my challenge group? It won't take me a minute. I'm sure I can't even do one. You can laugh at me. I can take it....

Seriously...I know I am not good at this stuff but where will I be in 90 days? So, it might be fun to take the challenge. Ok. Check. Fitness Test on the books for tomorrow.

Was it worth reading the guide? Yeah. I probably should have done it in the beginning. I, mean, they took the time to put it together. It took less than an hour for me to go through it. There are a few things they still didn't tell me. Like...you need tape on the floor for Agility X. I don't have tape. Last time, I was skipping Agility X because of the ¨tape issue¨. That I will save for another blog. Or the difference in towels you need to wipe your sweat with or the towels you will need to move over. We all don't have gym-sized towels around our house. Well...I don't. Hand towels are the closest I get. It helps to already have that towel rolled up for some of the moves not all flopsy from you wiping your sweaty brow, but hey...I'm just one uncoordinated chick. So, I need me two towels. One for wiping and one for swiping...so to speak. I just like to know...do I need a towel for moving or just for sweat dripping off my face. Wah...Wah...Wah...

So...if you got it, read it. Here's to the Fit Test tomorrow. OYE!!

Welcome to My World

Hello. For those that don't know me, My name is Kristina. I am a wife of 20 years to a wonderful, supportive man. A mother to 3 beautiful children. For all my life, I have struggled with my weight. Once, I was even diagnosed with Binge Eating Disorder. I have since conquered that and will probably address that issue in another blog, but this one is a "welcome to my world" blog.

I'm not sure how you found me, but welcome, welcome welcome!! I have been struggling with my weight for all my life. When I was in the 1st grade, a blonde-headed boy asked me if I could see my feet in the shower over my fat belly. I still remember that to this day. My maternal grandmother struggled with her weight and my mother struggled with her weight. I,too, seemed destined by genetics to struggle with my weight.

I was overweight through most of my childhood, but put most of it on after high school and an abusive relationship. Found my super great husband who loved me for who I was. However, I was not happy with my outward appearance. I joined T.O.P.S. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) in 1995 and have been going off and on since. I would lose and gain and lose and gain. My highest weight was right around 2005 after my third child was born. I got up to 260.

Feeling absolutely miserable, I started losing some of it, but then I became sick. Migraines plagued me. I had my gall bladder taken out on May 3, 2010. Then, my eyesight started going bad. I had a spinal tap that went terribly wrong. I was partially paralyzed during the procedure. Luckily, I was able to regain movement but was left in terrible pain. I did not want to live. I did not want to breathe. I spent many nights crying out to Jesus to just take me home. Away from this horrible life I was living. He did not.

Finally, I decided to "take up my mat and walk." So, on May 3, 2011. I got on my treadmill and walked 1/4 mile in 30 minutes. I felt like a failure and a loser! I cried because I was in pain and just felt defeated. However, I walked again the next day and the next until I had walked every day for 206 days straight. I lost weight and felt so much better about myself.

So many other things happened during that time, but my life started making a huge comeback. No longer was I this weak woman. I had UNBREAKABLE DETERMINATION. You can read more in the other two post I have on this blog.

So fast forward a few years, I have now lost 75 lbs. My doctor would like me to be around 140-145. I am kinda determined to get there. I borrowed a friends P90X3 and fell in love with the program for the first 4 weeks.

So here I am. Here you are. Welcome to my world. What am I about to do. Well, I am going to start P90X3 all over again from day 1 on Monday, August 11, 2014 and going to blog about it. I'm going to tell you all my modifications because I'm NOT those people on the screen. I am just your average Kristina. I am going to take my Day 1 pictures this weekend. I have already taken my measurements. I will share each day what my struggles are. You can come on this journey with me. How will it transform me? Was it worth the money I paid? Is it for you? I did become a coach so that I can also help others along the way. I will be starting up an accountability group. I have a page where you can get motivation. If at any point you feel you want to get P90X3 and join me, I will be sooooo happy to work with you and get you started. I will put links at the bottom of my page. I look forward to sharing at least the next 90 days with you.

Some things you can look forward to besides a bunch of Beachbody stuff is...I will be running 2 half marathons AND a third will happen the DAY after I finish the 90 days of P90X3. Yes, you read that right! I will be running 3 ~ 13.1 mile races during these next 90 days. I will also be doing several 5ks. I also love, love, love to make tutus. I am going to do a tutorial with one of my tutu making adventures and will share that here as well. I am also on a Gluten Free diet and will share many tips and recipes with you along the way. One is my hubby's famous and super, yummy flourless peanut butter cookies. OMGoodness...YOU do NOT want to miss that one. So, you might want to subscribe to my page for some of those yummy treats even if the BB "thing" just throws you off. LOL

Can't wait to share the next 90 days with you!!!
